The ZX5 boasts a sleek exterior and a number of new optional features — including the Quick Blade Change system and the Euro Edger — designed to simplify operations and improve ice quality.

A state-of-the-art drive train and advanced hydraulic system offer improved energy efficiency while meeting the demands of the toughest rink schedules. With a 12" touch screen and electronic controls, experienced operators can fine-tune parameters to resurface with precision, while pre-set resurfacing functions ensure that operators with a variety of skill levels can maintain a consistent high-quality sheet of ice.

New Features

Our customers’ expectations of reliability, durability and serviceability were top of mind during the selection and development of the features onboard the ZX5. An on-board edger is available, reducing on-ice maintenance time. Our Advanced Water System is a standard feature of this machine. Proximity sensors and optional multiple camera views provide safer operation.

Automated blade and flood water control, and the automated towel lift save time and resources, offering consistency between operators. A quick blade change with side access simplifies the routine task. A slide-out battery tray, fiberglass panels with ball and socket attachments and removeable/replaceable runners allow for ease of service.
Mission Control at Your Fingertips

The on-dash touchscreen integrates data collected by the machine, supporting optional equipment such as FastICE® and Level-Ice® without the need for additional consoles. Your machine’s state of charge, ice making and wash water consumption and ground speed are now displayed while underway.

Diagnostics and troubleshooting data are visible at a high level, as well as further in detail by toggling between screens. The standard screen and optional, larger 12” screen are complemented by banks of buttons, bringing machine operation controls into one space. The optional joystick provides additional familiarity and ease of operation. Facilities can take advantage of preset resurfacing parameters with an “Auto Ice” program to support consistency between operators.
Redesigned Drivetrain

With dual electric traction motors versus one central drive motor, the ZX5 has a tighter turn radius with more flexibility to allow additional efficiencies. The more efficient hydraulic system supports additional resurfacings per charge. The machine is 4WD and while the “under the hood” improvements are significant, its wheelbase and track are the same as that of our 500 Series machine models.
Onboard Battery Charger

Three onboard chargers combine to deliver 10Kw of power and standard EV style plugs support charging the lithium-ion batteries. Battery management and communication is simplified and all internal. This allows facilities to procure their own chargers designed to suit the needs of their business. International style charge plugs are available, and facilities can select the standard left- or optional right-side charging port. The ZX5 supports 110V or 220V as the charger identifies the voltage and responds accordingly.
Central Vehicle Controller

The controller uses data collected during resurfacing to optimize resurfacing parameters whether you are building ice, taking out ice or doing a routine resurfacing. All of the machine’s functions are coordinated, streamlining operation and maximizing efficiencies.
